In 2011, our program joined SunGrains, a cooperative research program between 6 southeastern universities which has led to two recent wheat variety releases. The beneficial haplotype of Hsp90.2 is rare in modern varieties and could be an excellent molecular switch promoting photosynthesis rate to increase yield in future elite wheat varieties.
